Two ways to wear a Promaster

These two Promasters start from the same idea: a clear dial, a rotating dive bezel and a light-powered movement. Then they head in different directions. The BN0266-07E is the smaller, black-on-black choice. The BN0151-17L is bigger, bluer and, at the current price, easier on the budget.

The first difference is size

The BN0266 measures 40.55 mm across, which we round to 40.6 mm in the collection. The BN0151 is 44 mm. That is a meaningful difference in footprint before you get to the colour of the dial or the shape of the bezel.

If a more compact diver is what brought you here, start with the BN0266. If you like a larger watch and a bolder dial, the BN0151 is the more obvious fit. The lug-to-lug measurements add another useful piece to the picture.

Black and sapphire, blue and mineral

The BN0266 pairs its black dial and strap with sapphire crystal. The BN0151 uses a blue dial, a blue urethane strap and mineral crystal. Sapphire's greater resistance to everyday scratches is one of the practical differences between them; the colour is the more personal one.

Light does the work

Both watches use Citizen's Eco-Drive technology. Light charges a rechargeable cell, which powers the quartz movement. There is no winding routine: the E118 movement in the BN0266 and the E168 in the BN0151 handle the timekeeping.

Both also have a date display, a screw-down crown and a 200-metre dive rating. The familiar dive-watch layout makes the time easy to pick out at a glance.

Where the choice lands

The BN0266 makes its case through a smaller diameter, sapphire crystal and a restrained black palette. The BN0151 offers the larger dive-watch look in blue, at a lower current price. If you like both, decide which matters more to you: the more compact case or the extra presence.
